Asian stock markets traded mixed on Thursday following a turbulent day on Wall Street. South Korea reported that North Korea fired a further two short-range ballistic missiles after an intermediate-range missile was launched over Japanese territory on Tuesday. Meanwhile, OPEC+ decided to cut oil production by 2 million barrels per day, adding to energy crisis concerns.
The Nikkei 225 gained 0.92% at 4:35 am CET, while the Kospi Composite added 1.24% at 4:43 am CET. At the same time, the S&P/ASX 200 was down 0.06%, and Hang Seng lost 0.58%. Markets in mainland China were closed for a public holiday.
The dollar traded flat against the yen and went for 144.6445 at 4:45 am CET.
