Asian stock indexes experienced gains on the final day of the week, with the exception of Japan's Nikkei, as investors processed the most recent GDP report, which revealed a sharper decline in the country's economy and trade than previously estimated.
In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite added 0.27% at 7:04 am CET. At 7:20 am CET, South Korea's Kospi Composite soared 1.07%, while Hong Kong's Hang Seng added 0.07% at the same time. A minute later, the Shenzhen Composite was 0.60% higher.
At the close, Australia's S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.30%. On the other hand, Japan's Nikkei 225 plummeted 1.68% at its closing bell. The dollar traded 0.19% above the yen at 7:21 am CET, selling for 143.97900.
