Most Asian stocks were lower to open the week after a Bank of Japan report showed that the central bank again expressed support for relaxed monetary policy and that one policymaker said inflation "highly likely" won't fall below 2%, with another official calling for early discussions about a "revision to the treatment of yield curve control."
The dollar was down 0.10% to ¥143.584 at 4:28 am CET after Japan's Vice Minister of Finance for International Affairs Masato Kanda stated that "no options are ruled out" to address the decline of the yen.
The Nikkei 225 rose by 0.20% at 4:30 am CET. The Shanghai Composite dropped 1.04% at 4:16 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index lost 1.79% at 4:31 am CET. The Hang Seng declined 0.34% at 4:32 am CET. The Kospi advanced by 0.45% at the same time. The S&P/ASX 200 decreased by 0.34% at 4:32 am CET.
