Major Asian stock markets traded mostly higher on Monday as the last week of the year kicked off. Hong Kong's Hang Seng and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 are closed today due to the Christmas holidays.
Previously, it was announced that China's National Health Commission (NHC) will stop publishing daily COVID-19 figures, while Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi stressed on Sunday that the relations with Washington are facing "serious difficulties."
In mainland China, the Shenzhen Composite rose 0.39% at 2:44 am CET, while the Shanghai Composite increased by 0.44% at 2:59 am CET. Japan's Nikkei 225 advanced 118 points or 0.45%, and South Korea's Kospi decreased by 0.15% at 3:00 am CET.
The dollar went down by 0.31% compared to the Japanese yen at 2:58 am CET, trading for ¥132.477.
