Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum confirmed Monday that her country received 4,000 immigrants deported from the United States since January 20.

She previously said she did not agree to restart President Donald Trump's Remain in Mexico policy under which those seeking asylum in the US would remain in Mexico while their requests were processed. At the same time, reports emerged that Mexico rejected deportation flights from the US.

According to Sheinbaum, some of the deportees were not Mexican nationals.
