The Australian government is placing additional sanctions on Russia and Belarus in an effort to stop the alleged spread of "disinformation and propaganda," Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Marise Payne said in a statement.
With the new round of punitive measures, Canberra has targeted 32 pro-Kremlin "propagandists" that allegedly made an effort to justify President Vladimir Putin's actions in Ukraine, which Payne described as "unprovoked and illegal."
"The Australian Government reiterates our unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and for the people of Ukraine," Payne stated, calling on Moscow to "immediately withdraw its military forces" from the country.
