Austria's Interior Minister Karl Nehammer is set to become the country's new Chancellor after Alexander Schallenberg yesterday announced his resignation. Furthermore, the government will likely go through a reshuffling process led by the ruling People's Party, it was announced on Friday.

Nehammer will become Austria's third Chancellor in just a couple of months after both former head of government Sebastian Kurz and his successor Schallenberg stepped down from the post.

In one of his first moves, Nehammer proposed the candidacy of Schallenberg for the post of Austria's foreign minister.
