BIS appoints former ECB De Cos as new general manager

The Bank for International Settlements (BIS) announced on Monday the appointment of former European Central Bank official Pablo Hernandez de Cos as its next general manager.

De Cos, currently head of the Bank of Spain, will begin his five-year term on July 1, 2025, succeeding Agustin Carstens.

BIS Board Chair Francois Villeroy praised De Cos as a leader of "remarkable caliber and global experience," highlighting his potential to uphold BIS values of trust and technical excellence.
