Former British Secretary of State for Business and Trade Kemi Badenoch (pictured) announced on Monday her campaign to replace former Prime Minister Rishi Sunak as the head of the Conservative Party. She blamed the Tories' recent election defeat on the fact that "people no longer believe in the Conservatives." She accused the ruling Labor Party of being "clueless, irresponsible and dishonest," especially on the economy. "The British people are yearning for something better, and this Labour government are not it," she said.
Meanwhile, former Foreign and Home Secretary James Cleverly also made his first campaign speech today. He called for unity within the party stating that "we can choose to unite, or we can choose to stay in opposition." The first vote for the new Tory leader will take place on Wednesday when four out of the six candidates will remain in the race.
