Baerbock warns of Baltic Sea cable damage impact

German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock insisted on Saturday that the damage allegedly done to the transmission cables running through the Baltic Sea would have dangerous consequences for digital communication in the European Union and the environment.

Speaking to the Funke Media Group, Baerbock blamed the issue on Russia amid the West's support for Ukraine during Moscow's military campaign in the latter country and called on the parliament to classify that as an act of aggression.

After Finland's probe found that the cables seem deliberately cut, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) decided to increase its defense capabilities in the Baltic.
