Baerbock: Kiev's minerals deal must comply with EU rules

Outgoing German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock said during a visit to Kiev on Tuesday that Ukraine's minerals deal with the United States must be compatible with European Union regulations as Ukraine is a candidate to join the union. The US and Ukraine have renewed talks on a deal after the Trump administration sent a new proposal to Ukraine last week.

Baerbock repeated that Russian President Vladimir Putin's goal is the "destruction of Ukraine" as the lack of progress on the partial ceasefire is frustrating Kiev's allies. Earlier today, Baerbock announced a new aid package worth €130 million on her last trip to Ukraine before leaving office.
