Baidu Inc. and Lyft Inc. announced on Monday that they have partnered to deploy the former company's autonomous electric vehicles (AVs) Apollo Go to the latter's platform in Europe.
According to the enterprises' statements, the service will first be introduced in Germany and the United Kingdom in 2026 if it gets regulatory approval.
"This collaboration represents our commitment to making autonomous mobility accessible worldwide while working with local partners who understand their communities," Baidu Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Robin Li said, while Lyft head David Risher added that "it's part of our hybrid network approach, where AVs and human drivers work together to provide customer-obsessed options for riders."
