Baidu Inc. has plans to introduce a new reasoning model by the end of August, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing a source.
The source detailed that the new model would be able to carry out more complex tasks, which would help Baidu rival companies like OpenAI Inc. and DeepSeek. In addition, the business is also looking to launch an upgraded version of its core foundation model, labeled Ernie 5.0, in the months to come.
Baidu's artificial intelligence models Ernie 4.5 and Ernie X1 were first released in March.
