The number of oil rigs in the United States fell by two, on a weekly basis, to 607 in the week ending February 17, the Baker Hughes rig count data released on Friday revealed. On an annual level, oil rigs were up by 87.
The US gas rig count grew by one to 151 during the same week, while it rose by 27 compared to last year. The total number of rigs in the country currently stands at 760, down by one from last week but up by 115 from the previous year.
In Canada, the total rig count stood at 248, declining by two from last week but increasing by 28 compared to 12 months ago. The number of oil rigs rose by two to 163 and the number of gas rigs decreased by four to 85. Year over year, Canada added 28 oil rigs, while the number of gas rigs was unchanged.
