FC Barcelona announced on Friday it reached a deal for its content creation unit Barca Media to go public in the United States via a merger with Mountain & Co I Acquisition Corp, a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).
The Spanish football club said it will merge its digital Barca Vision and audiovisual content units under the brand Barca Media and noted the transaction with Mountain & Co I Acquisition Corp is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2023, creating a combined company with an enterprise value of around $1 billion. Existing shareholders, including FC Barcelona, will retain a stake of 80% in Barca Media.
Barce Media will be listed on Nasdaq under the ticker symbol BRME.
