French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot said on Monday that France welcomed the nuclear deal talks between the United States and Iran but that it remains "vigilant." He insisted that any agreement must align with European security interests, arguing that Iran remains a "significant threat."

The US-Iran talks took place in Oman last week, with Washington reporting progress and US President Donald Trump stating he will make a "decision on Iran very quickly." Barrot added that France is awaiting the International Atomic Energy Agency's report on the Iranian nuclear capacity, which should be published in a few weeks.
