Local authorities in Beijing announced travelers coming to the city will have to provide a negative COVID-19 nucleic acid test done at most 72 hours before arrival. The new measure will come into force on January 22 and will be imposed until the end of March, as Beijing hosts the Winter Olympics from February 4 to 20.
China reported 65 locally transmitted COVID-19 cases and 54 imported infections on Sunday, with the official number of cases since the start of the pandemic reaching 104,864. The country has also administered 2.93 billion vaccine shots so far.
