Belarusian State Customs Committee revealed in a statement on Sunday that customs authorities prevented 580 kg of explosives from passing through the Belarusian-Polish border.
"A 41-year-old driver attempted to smuggle 580 kg of a particularly powerful foreign-made explosive (presumably from the USA) across the Belarusian-Polish border and then transport it to Russia," it was written in the statement.
The individual was driving a Mercedes through the Brest checkpoint. The authorities detained the driver and a criminal case was opened. "An expert examination conducted promptly by the Customs Laboratory confirmed that the substance found was a powerful high explosive one, called pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN)," authorities detailed.
