Belgium's Deputy Prime Minister Petra De Sutter (pictured) called for "maximum sanctions" on Israel in response to its alleged plans to launch a ground invasion of Lebanon.

De Sutter said the operation escalates the conflict rather than promoting self-defense, calling on the European Union and the international community to take immediate action to prevent further destruction.

"The planned ground invasion of Lebanon grossly violates international law. This is not self-defense, but provoking all-out war," she stressed.
