White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki told the press on Wednesday that the Biden administration "welcomes" a US district court's decision for the antitrust suit against Meta Platforms Inc. to move forward.
Asked whether the tech giant, formally known as Facebook, should have to sever its subsidiaries Instagram and Whatsapp, the press secretary said that the White House is "certainly encouraged" by the court's ruling. "We need more competition in the tech industry," she underscored.
Her comment's come after a district judge on Tuesday denied Meta's request to dismiss US Federal Trade Commission's antitrust complaint against the company.
