United States administration expressed its support to Turkey on Wednesday about the possible sale of US F-16 fighter jets.

"The United States supports Turkey's modernization of its fighter fleet because that is a contribution to NATO security and therefore American security," Celeste Wallander, Assistant Secretary for Defense for International Security Affairs at Pentagon, told reporters.

The development comes after Turkey greenlighted Sweden and Finland's applications for NATO membership. On the topic, United States President Joe Biden welcomed yesterday the Memorandum of Understanding Turkey signed with Finland and Sweden.
