United States President Joe Biden considered the possibility of striking Iran's nuclear facilities if the country advanced toward obtaining a nuclear weapon, Axios reported on Thursday. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan laid out several options for an attack in a meeting with Biden around a month ago, according to three people familiar with the matter.

One source said the meeting "was not prompted by new intelligence" and was aimed at considering different scenarios, with Biden not expected to decide on an attack. Another unnamed official said there are currently no "active discussions" regarding a potential strike on Iran. Biden will step down on January 20 and be succeeded by President-elect Donald Trump.
