Former United States President Joe Biden gave his first public speech since leaving the White House, delivering criticism of President Donald Trump administration's cuts.
Addressing the Advocates, Counselors, and Representatives for the Disabled (ACRD) event, Biden accused the current administration of "taking a hatch" into the Social Security system within its first 100 days. He said officials forced out 7,000 employees, including many seasoned workers, and cut the agency's technology division. The result, he claimed, has been service problems, including website outages that prevent thousands from checking benefits or filing claims.
"It's kind of breathtaking it could happen this soon," Biden said, warning of lasting effects on millions who rely on the program.
