United States President Joe Biden underlined on Thursday that his administration inherited an economy in "freefall" following the Trump administration, highlighting that the country's economy had "collapsed" during Trump's tenure with a rising unemployment rate.
On the opening night of the presidential debate, Biden highlighted his administration's efforts to "put things back together" by creating 15 million jobs since taking office. "He [former President Donald Trump] had the largest national debt of any president in the four-year period," Biden said.
Trump's economy "rewarded the wealthy," the president added.
