United States President Joe Biden is said to be considering nominating former Treasury Secretary Jack Lew (pictured) as the country's next ambassador to Israel, sources told The Times of Israel on Sunday.

"The process is ongoing, but [Lew] is being vetted," a person familiar with the matter stated.

After leaving public office in the Clinton administration, the 67-year-old served as the budget director and White House chief of staff under the Obama administration. From 2013 until 2017, he held the post of the Treasury secretary.
