United States President Joe Biden and United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak have sat down to hold the meeting at the Grand Central Hotel in Belfast on Wednesday, as the two gather to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Good Friday Agreement.
The visiting president is expected to deliver remarks in the honor of the 1998-signed agreement later today before departing for Dublin, where he will meet his Irish counterpart Michael Higgins.
Earlier, Sinn Fein party leader, Mary Lou McDonald, praised the United States president's visit to the island in the honor of the Good Friday Agreement, adding that Washington played a "huge role" in securing the deal. McDonald also voiced the desire to put a stop to the "limbo" surrounding Stormont's resumed power-sharing arrangement.
