United States President Joe Biden stated that "he wasn't very smart" for "traveling around the world a couple of times" before his showdown with former US President Donald Trump.

Speaking at a campaign fundraiser in McLean, Virginia, Biden said that he did not listen to the advice his staff gave him which caused him to "almost fall asleep on stage."

"It’s not an excuse but an explanation," he was quoted as having said by Philip Wegmann, a White House correspondent for Real Clear Politics.
