United States President Joe Biden insisted in his State of the Union address that his administration cut the national deficit by over a trillion dollars and set a goal to reduce it even more.
Biden stressed that he intends to make corporations pay their "fair share of taxes." "Fair tax code is how we make this country great," he underscored. Biden also proposed raising the tax rate for billionaires to a minimum of 25%, adding that "no billionaire should pay lower federal tax rate than a teacher, sanitation worker or a nurse."
Moreover, Biden attacked his predecessor Donald Trump for courting corporations and those with higher incomes, which "exploded the federal deficit." He added that Trump's administration "added more to the national debt" than "any other in history."
