Elon Musk's biographer Walter Isaacson told CNBC on Tuesday that the Tesla CEO exploded after hearing that fellow billionaire Bill Gates shorted the electric carmaker's stock after the Microsoft co-founder admitted to him during a meeting on climate change last year that he was still shorting Tesla.
"The demons and dancing in Elon Musk's head include people who short Tesla," Isaacson stated and noted Musk later sent him a text in which he called Gates "insane."
Isaacson's book titled "Elon Musk," in which the exchange is detailed, hit the shelves earlier today. In April 2022, Musk admitted to "making fun" of Gates for "shorting Tesla while claiming to support climate change action."
