Major cryptocurrencies continued their rally on Wednesday, with Bitcoin exceeding the $61,000 mark for the first time since November 2021.
The most valued cryptocurrency's gains have been accelerating for days as the halving event, planned for April 2024, nears. In addition, cryptocurrencies were boosted by reports that MicroStrategy bought some 3,000 bitcoins worth $155 million, while Reddit announced that it purchased smaller amounts of bitcoin and ethereum.
Bitcoin surged 6.93% at 10:52 am ET, to sell for $61,031. At the same time, Ethereum gained 3.38%, trading at $3,353.
