United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati talked over the phone on Saturday, spokesperson Matthew Miller revealed in a statement.
While discussing the current Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza, Blinken expressed his concerns over the fight possibly spreading to other parts of the Middle East, as tensions along Lebanon's southern border are growing.
Blinken "reiterated the importance of respecting the interests of the Lebanese people, who would be affected by Lebanon being drawn into the conflict instigated by Hamas' terrorist attack on Israel," the statement read.
