Blinken holds talks with Gantz, Gallant over ceasefire proposal

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken held phone calls with Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant and Israeli Minister without Portfolio Benny Gantz to discuss the latest hostage deal proposal revealed by US President Joe Biden last week.

Blinken commended "Israel's readiness to conclude a deal and affirmed that the onus is on Hamas to accept," stressing that the deal would bring about the advancement of "Israel’s long-term security interests."

He also reaffirmed the "ironclad commitment" the US has towards Israel's security.

IDF said to raid West Bank settlement

Israeli settlers attacked the residents of Susiya, a West Bank village situated south of Hebron, Al Jazeera Arabic reported, citing Palestinian media. It is unclear how many people were injured in the overnight attack. Meanwhile, a separate local report said that Israeli forces raided the West Bank city of Qalqilya, firing off live rounds at Palestinian youths.
Germany calls on Israel to stop building settlements in West Bank
Germany said it "strongly" objects to Israel's plan to build 3,000 housing units in the occupied West Bank, calling on the country to "stop settlement construction," AFP reported. The statement from the country's foreign ministry said Berlin "strongly rejects the Israeli government’s announcements on thousands of new settlements in the Israeli-occupied areas of the West Bank."
