United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken (pictured) reaffirmed on Thursday his support for Sweden and Finland's NATO accession, stressing that both countries are ready for that step.
According to an official statement from the State Department, Blinken also welcomed "Sweden's leadership on shared policy goals while it holds the Council of the European Union presidency from January to June 2023."
Blinken's remarks come a day after his talk with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on the accession of Finland and Sweden. Nevertheless, in that case, the Turkish representative mentioned that Turkey expects Sweden to take "concrete steps" in the "fight against terrorism."
