Blinken thanks Japan for its 'partnership' on Ukraine

United States Secretary of State Antony Blinked thanked the new Japanese Foreign Minister Iwaya Takeshi on his country's "ongoing partnership on Ukraine" while calling the alliance between the two countries a "truly global partnership," according to a readout from the State Department.

The two officials agreed that the US-Japan alliance is the "cornerstone" of security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Blinken and Takeshi also discussed the importance of maintaining close cooperation between the US, Japan, and South Korea in "ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific," the State Department said.
