United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken is slated to travel to Turkey on Friday, according to a Turkish official source cited by AFP on Wednesday. The purpose of his visit is to discuss the situation in Syria following the recent removal of leader Bashar al-Assad from power.

"He will be in Turkey on Friday," the source added.

This visit is set to occur just five days after Assad's sudden displacement from leadership and it is expected to explore a possible agreement between the US-supported Kurdish-led Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) and Turkey-backed forces in Syria to cease hostilities, as reported by Al Arabiya English.
