United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken accused China on Monday of its continuing abuse, which includes genocide and crimes against humanity, of the Uyghurs and Tibetans' rights, as well as of violating Hong Kong's status.

While presenting the State Department's annual human rights report, Blinken singled out Iran and its actions "against its own people;" Afghanistan and the Taliban measures that "discriminate against women and girls;" Myanmar, led by the junta that "brutalizes the population;" Cuba; Nicaragua; and Ethiopia as countries where the situation can be seen as critical.

Blinken also expressed his pride in the US, the State Department, and their work to support human rights and shed the light on violations of those around the world.
