United States Secretary of State Antony Blinken underlined on Tuesday that Washington opposes "long-term" Israeli occupation of the Gaza Strip, emphasizing that he will intensify efforts to bring Hamas on board with the US-proposed "bridging" ceasefire proposal.
"We need to get the ceasefire deal over the finish line," Blinken told reports before leaving Doha. "Time is of the essence because the well-being of the hostages is in jeopardy," the state secretary added, cautioning that the threat of regional escalation intensifies with each day the conflict in Gaza continues.
The day before, Blinek shared that Israel has already agreed to Washington's ceasefire proposal on the Gaza conflict.
