The Boeing Company is negotiating the purchase of Spirit AeroSystems Holdings Inc., the manufacturer that produces several parts for Boeing, including the fuselage for recently inspected 737 Max aircraft, the Wall Street Journal reported on Friday citing sources familiar with the matter.
According to the report, Spirit has already held preliminary talks with Boeing and is exploring strategic options. However, the sources told the media outlet that an agreement may not be reached.
Additionally, the sources said that Spirit is considering the sale of its business in Ireland that produces parts for other aviation giant and Boeing's main competitor, Airbus.
