Bombardier suffers cybersecurity breach

Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier announced on Tuesday that a cybersecurity breach has been recently discovered within servers isolated from the main Bombardier IT network. The company reports that it wasn't specifically targeted as multiple parties were affected by the exposed vulnerability.

The unauthorized access extracted data by "exploiting a vulnerability affecting a third-party file-transfer application" and compromised confidential information of customers, suppliers and 130 employees located in Costa Rica.

"The ongoing investigation indicates that the unauthorized access was limited solely to data stored on the specific servers. Manufacturing and customer support operations have not been impacted or interrupted," Bombardier's official statement said.
