Brazilian Supreme Court justice Alexandre de Moraes rejected former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro's request to attend the inauguration of US President-elect Donald Trump.
"The scenario that justified the imposition of the ban on leaving the country, with the surrender of passports, continues to indicate the possibility of an attempted evasion by the accused," Moraes wrote.
Bolsonaro, known for being one of Trump's strong supporters in Latin America, is currently prohibited from leaving Brazil after police seized his passport last year amid a probe into allegations that he plotted a coup in 2022 that included plans to assassinate incumbent President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva.
