Major European stock markets opened with deep losses on Monday with three of its major indexes below 2%. Pending the day's data, markets appear to be following the global sell-off trend.
At 9:00 am CET, the German Dax dropped 2.31% or 407 points as Vonovia SE went 2.62% down. The Euro Stoxx 50 decreased 2.72% and shortly after the opening, it slumped to 3.10% as ING Groep nosedived 7.21%. The French CAC 40 fell 2.10% as STMicroelectronics lost 6.30%. The British FTSE 100 traded 1.72% lower with Melrose Industries PLC declining 3.21%.
The euro traded flat against the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $1.09083. Simultaneously, the pound sterling declined by 0.49% against the United States currency to change hands for $1.27417.
