The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) Commander, General Michael Kurilla, and Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Chief of the General Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi held "joint situational assessment" talks on Monday in response to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the IDF announced in a post on X.
Kurilla traveled to Israel where he met with Halevi to discuss security and "strategic issues" and agreed to expand the cooperation between the two militaries and reaffirmed their support for regional stability.
The talks between two high-ranking military officials coincide with increased tensions between Tel Aviv and Tehran after Iran vowed retaliation against Israel for the assassination of Hamas' political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran.
