The COVID-19 pandemic in Germany is "not yet under control," Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (pictured) said on Tuesday, taking into account the infection rates and the hospital bed occupancy. He reiterated his prediction that the Omicron variant will peak in mid-February and that the current containment measures must be kept in place.
Meanwhile, Robert Koch Institute President Lothar Wieler conceded Germany is experiencing a rebound in new coronavirus cases. However, he added the country is "at a turning point," predicting Germans could look forward to reopening in the spring.
