Canada's 2-year government bond yield dropped on Monday, landing at its lowest point since May 2022.

Over the weekend, United States President Donald Trump introduced import tariffs against Canada and Mexico, with both countries fighting back and promising to introduce retaliatory measures. The moves affected global markets, as investors worried about the repercussions of such actions.

The return on the 2-year note slid 10.7 points to 2.543% at 7:22 am ET. The return on the 10-year note stood flat at 3.064% at the same time, while the yield on the 30-year bond slid 9.1 points to 3.147%.
