The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) announced that it will require a negative COVID-19 test taken within 48 hours before departure for all people aged two and older arriving from China from January 5. The measure will remain in place for 30 days and will be reviewed after that period.
Meanwhile, Australian Health Minister Mark Butler revealed that Canberra will also introduce the same pre-travel requirement for all visitors from China.
"These temporary measures" will also be introduced from January 5 and have been made "out of an abundance of caution," Butler wrote on Twitter.
