A car bomb explosion in a market in Azaz, a northern Syrian city near the Turkish border, resulted in at least six deaths and twenty injuries on Saturday, as reported by the interior ministry.
The attack took place south of Damascus on the eve of Ashura, a significant Shiite commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, the Prophet Mohammed's grandson.
The ministry described the attack as a "terrorist bombing," stating it was caused by a motorcycle exploding near a taxi. This incident came days after a car explosion in the same area wounded two civilians.
