The ceasefire in the Gaza Strip could be jeopardized if the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) is forced to halt its activities following Israel's ban, which was due to take effect on January 30, the agency's Director of Communications Juliette Touma said at a press briefing in Geneva on Friday.
"If UNRWA is not allowed to continue to bring and distribute supplies, then the fate of this very fragile ceasefire is going to be at risk and is going to be in jeopardy," Touma emphasized.
Earlier, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France voiced their concern about Israel's decision to ban UNRWA from its territory while urging Israel to "abide by its international obligations."
