The Chilean population rejected the second proposal in two years for a new Magna Carta drafted by the right political wing of the country.

The National Electoral Service reported that with more than 98.61% of the voting centers counted, the results of the referendum were 55.75% or 6,810,716 votes, against while 44.25% or 5,405,055, in favor.

The 1980 Constitution was proclaimed during the dictatorship of General Augusto Pinochet (1973-1990) and it will be thus maintained. In September 2022, President Gabriel Boric's proposal was also rejected and he said earlier that after today “whatever the result, the constituent process is closed here".
