The gross domestic product (GDP) of China rose by 4.9% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2023, according to a report released by the country's National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Wednesday.
The data showed goods and services produced by Beijing landed above the estimated numbers with the value-added of the primary industry landing at 5,637.4 billion yuan, increasing 4.0% on an annual basis, while the secondary industry rose by 4.4% to reach 35,365.9 billion yuan.
Compared to the figure seen in the second quarter of the year, the GDP decreased by 1.4 percentage points. In the first nine months of the year, the gross domestic product saw an increase of 5.2% to stand at 91,302.7 billion yuan.
