China's defense minister to visit Russia

The Chinese Defense Ministry announced on Friday its head Li Shangfu will pay a visit to Russia that will last from April 16 to 19.

According to spokesperson Tan Kefei's statement posted on WeChat, Li was personally invited to Russia by that country's defense minister Sergey Shoygu. During the visit, Li will have meetings with Russia's military leadership and visit the country's army educational institutions.

Recently, the Chinese Defense Ministry expressed Beijing's readiness to "enhance communication and cooperation with the Russian military."
